Extraordinary Voyages (EV)
The Extraordinary Voyages Setting is not merely a single world, but rather an entire solar system that embraces the romance and simplicity of the past, while coupling it with the hope and promise of the future. Great steamships ply the waters of the Vektran homeworld of Thal while the Queen sends her fleets of massive, steampowered flying battleships off world to defend the full reach of her colonies.
Vektran trade ships have brought some of the most exotic items home to the capital of Edwynn in their travels through the Aether to the other worlds in the system. Trade-spices from the eastern provinces of the Gnosi lands, finely crafted and highly valued Skandar weapons, and the strange, exotic technologies of the Gheel are but a few examples. Vektran ships are often forced to deal with conflict during their voyages. Skirmishes born out of terrritorial disputes with the Anish and Djibat, sky pirates of various stripes, rival battle or trade ships, and even the strange creatures of the Aether are all potential and prevalent danger on any given journey.
Often strapped for personnel to crew their Aether-flyers, the Vektrans have relied heavily upon what they deem lesser folk, such as the Arbri, Gr'wuk, Vl'ren, Pinnip, Numid, Tunvul, and others who are similar to Vektrans in that they too are technically human, but have strange ways like the Gnosi, Anish, Djibat, Skandar, and Makad.
Some such as the Bakhar, a strange vagabond group of wanderers, defy the supreme religion of the Vektran. Ever the purists, the Vektran share their way of life, their religion, and the protections of their fleets - whether those they seek to save want the Vektran life or not.
Though steampower is the ultimate technology that allows the process by wich liftgas powers the massive Aether-flyers into the skies and beyond into the Aether, there is a place the Menticians fear to look. Like the Aether, The Dark Aether is home to beings that mankind does not understand. They are dark things, forgotten things that only reveal themselves in the fevered nightmares of youth and the infirm.
Extraordinary Voyages is a massive Setting full of potential for adventure and exploration. It presents the familiar and the strange, the known and the unknown, the expected and the unimagined, and the safe and the irrefutably terrifying. Strap on your goggles, lace up your corset, and slip a revolver into your hip holster. It's going to be a bumpy ride through the Aether.
